Sunpine invests 2.2 million for a better local environment
SunPine's factory area has had recurring problems with bad odors. SEK 2.2 million is now being invested to improve the local environment.
– We obviously want to address the smell that bothers us who work here as well as our neighbors, says Magnus Edin, CEO, SunPine.
SunPine's factory at Haraholmen has had problems with bad odors. During the year, SunPine has conducted an investigation to find the sources of the error and develop measures. The investigation is now complete and measures worth 2.2 million SEK have been decided.
Magnus Edin, CEO, SunPine:
– We are addressing what we have now identified, but we cannot know now that it will solve everything. We will of course continue to implement more measures on an ongoing basis if necessary. But we are of course hopeful that this investment will make things much better.
The investment leads to increased capacity in the purification plant with several new extractions and technical solutions that will encapsulate any gas emissions:
– It is of course regrettable that it smelled bad, it naturally also bothers us who work at the facility. We can only regret this. We want to minimize disturbing odors as much as possible, Edin states and continues:
– We have had a changing problem with unpleasant odors since we put the new facility into operation in December 2015. Then the whole of 2016 was a start-up year with a strong focus on making the process and the production of resin work. I am pleased that the investigation that was started already in the first quarter of 2018 has now succeeded in identifying a number of concrete areas where we can now take action.
– What can be difficult to understand is that the smell is not coming from our chimney. Water vapor is coming out of there. The difficult thing is actually finding and identifying gas leaks in a facility as extensive as ours, notes Edin.
The two million investments will go towards, among other things:
- Increase capacity in the treatment plant
- More connection points
- Better control of the plant
- Enhanced control of system efficiency
