Sunpine in a new suit – preparing for growth in the energy transition

Sunpine is at an exciting stage in its growth journey. The European renewable diesel market is expected to grow by over 300 percent over the next five years and Sunpine is now taking a concerted step into the future – with a new visual identity and a focus on the future.

– We have gone from being pioneers to becoming world leaders. Now we are stepping up our international presence. This is not just a new logo – it is the start of a new chapter in Sunpine's history, says David Öquist, CEO of Sunpine.

The new logo, website and graphic profile are designed to reflect Sunpine's role as a central player in the important energy transition - and in the transition to fossil-free transportation.

Behind the new surface area is an overall goal: to reach full capacity in the facility by 2030. This is a large increase from 2024 levels, and the goal is within reach.

Rapidly increasing demand

– Already in 2025 we will see record volumes delivered here from Haraholmen, and according to forecasts, demand for advanced biofuels is expected to more than triple in the coming years.

There are several reasons for the increased demand, including:

  • Blending mandates in conventional diesel are expected to rise in many European countries, not least as part of meeting the EU's climate ambitions.
  • The EU has introduced binding blending mandates for sustainable aviation fuels (SAF), and similar requirements are set in shipping through the FuelEU Maritime Directive.
  • Companies and consumers, in turn, are placing increasing demands on more sustainable transportation.

– Now we want to make a difference on a global level. It requires more of us – both in terms of technical development and how we communicate our role. And it is a responsibility we are happy to take on, says David Öquist.

A European partner in the energy transition

After almost 20 years of innovation and over SEK 1 billion in investments, Sunpine has built the world's largest and most efficient production facility for Raw Tall Diesel. Almost 90 patents protect the company's award-winning production process, the process is 97 percent fossil-free and Raw Tall Diesel has a carbon dioxide reduction value of 90 percent. These are properties that are increasingly in demand as Europe's major fuel producers shift and also begin to differentiate between different biofuels – both in terms of sustainability and quality.

– We offer not only volume, but also knowledge, technical excellence and delivery reliability. And our offering includes more than one product, we want to be the strategic partner for all fuel producers who are serious about their climate ambitions, concludes David Öquist.
