New Sunpine Chairman Aims for Sustainable Growth

Sunpine is pleased to announce that Martin Forsén has taken office as the new Chairman of the Board. Martin Forsén is Sunpine's first external Chairman of the Board and brings with him solid international experience from the forest industry – and a passion for sustainable business development.

– Sunpine is at an exciting intersection between forestry, innovation, the future and green tech – and is also a company that has been profitable for a long time. This, together with a product that reduces the world's dependence on fossil fuels, makes Sunpine an incredibly exciting company to be part of developing, says Martin Forsén.

Important part of the future energy mix
Piteå-based Sunpine operates the world's first – and largest – production facility for Raw Tall Diesel, an advanced biofuel feedstock made from waste products from the paper and pulp industry and with a carbon dioxide reduction value of 80-90 percent. Martin Forsén sees Sunpine as an important enabler in the global transition to sustainable energy solutions.

– To combat climate change, we must phase out fossil fuels using all conceivable alternatives. In this energy mix, Sunpine's Raw Tall Diesel will play a crucial role. For every liter of Raw Tall Diesel we can produce and sell, we make a difference.

Working towards full capacity
As more and more countries introduce and increase their reduction obligations, and with upcoming EU requirements for the blending of biofuels for both shipping and aviation, Martin Forsén sees great opportunities to grow Sunpine's business - and support the energy transition.

– Here is an innovative and patented technology, committed, knowledgeable and motivating people – and an incredible facility. Now we will focus on building an organization that can grow sustainably and ensure that even more customers and end consumers have access to our products, both in Sweden and internationally.

David Öqvist, CEO of Sunpine, says that Martin Forsén's knowledge and experience will be important as Sunpine broadens its customer base and increases its international presence.

– Martin has more than two decades of experience in the forest industry, with assignments in Sweden, the Baltics, Laos and Paraguay, and has extensive experience in building companies that make a difference socially, economically and environmentally. With Martin Forsén as Chairman of the Board, Sunpine is heading towards an exciting future, with the goal of strengthening our position in the growing market for really good biofuels.
