A bright future for sustainable aviation fuel

Sustainable aviation fuel
The transport sector is in the midst of a rapid and decisive transformation. Aviation, shipping and land transport are now subject to new requirements to gradually reduce their fossil emissions. One example is the EU regulation ReFuelEU Aviation, which from 2025 requires the inclusion of sustainable aviation fuel – Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) – in all refuelling at European airports. The impact will be clear: demand for sustainable raw materials and advanced biofuels is increasing rapidly in all modes of transport.
Sustainable aviation fuel is a key solution in the transition. SAF works in existing engines and infrastructure and can reduce aviation's climate footprint by up to 80 percent compared to fossil jet fuel over the entire life cycle. According to ReFuelEU Aviation, the share of sustainable aviation fuel will gradually increase from 2 percent in 2025 to at least 70 percent by 2050. This means a sharply growing demand for sustainable, traceable raw materials for a long time to come.
At the same time, the supply of these raw materials is limited. For the transport sector as a whole to cope with its transition, large volumes are required from many different sources – and solutions that provide high climate benefits without competing with land or food production. Here, Sunpine plays an important role.
Our production is primarily optimized for HVO100, where the raw tall diesel provides high climate benefits directly in existing vehicles.

Raw tall oil diesel – a circular raw material that strengthens the entire bioeconomy
Sunpines Raw Tall Oil Diesel is made from raw tall oil, a residual stream from the Swedish paper and pulp industry. The product is ISCC certified with full traceability and is classified as an advanced biofuel feedstock with a carbon dioxide reduction value of up to 90 percent.
Our production is primarily optimized for HVO100, where the raw tall diesel provides high climate benefits directly in existing vehicles and infrastructure. But even if the majority is used for renewable diesel, our large volumes contribute to strengthening the overall supply of sustainable raw materials throughout the bioeconomy. This in turn makes it easier for the aviation and shipping sectors to achieve their goals – when one sector increases its production of advanced biofuels, the burden on the others is relieved. This is crucial when all modes of transport are to reduce their fossil emissions in parallel.
As a supplier of stable, traceable and long-term available volumes, Sunpine helps keep the entire value chain moving.
Together we build the sustainable transport of the future
As the EU and national governments tighten their requirements, strong collaborations are needed between raw material producers, refiners, transport companies and infrastructure players. Sunpine is investing in technology, capacity and partnerships to meet the increasing need – and to ensure a secure supply of sustainable raw materials for the renewable fuels of the future, including SAF.
The green transition is not happening in a single sector, but as the entire system moves forward. Sunpine is part of that movement – drop by drop.
