Fredrik Lernståhl

Just over two years ago, shutdown manager Fredrik Lernståhl took the step to join SunPine.
“SunPine is all about sustainability, which is one of the reasons I wanted to work here”.

Can you tell us in a few words what you do at SunPine?

I’m the shutdown manager. Once a year, we shut down the plant to carry out the maintenance, service and inspections that cannot be done when the plant is running. My job as shutdown manager involves coordination and preparations before the shutdown, because once the shutdown has begun, everything has to keep moving along.

What is it about your job at SunPine that motivates you?

That it’s a small, growing company. Everyone is close to the decisions, and there’s a strong sense of participation. Coming to work is a real treat; I feel that I’m doing something worthwhile. We produce renewable products such as green diesel. It’s a unique process. Our plant is the only one of its kind in the world, and what’s, more we’re expanding. Being part of that journey is awesome! There’s a feeling that nothing is impossible, that we can solve everything. It’s a feeling that inspires and motivates us.

How would you describe the work environment?

The buildings we work in are very new, and as I spend a lot of time in the office that suits me just fine. Safety is the be-all and end-all for everyone who works at the plant. In general, no matter where we work, I feel that we have a great working environment.

And how about the atmosphere among your colleagues?

There’s a real warm atmosphere here. There’s a sense of openness, and all questions are welcomed. No one here keeps things to themselves, everyone likes to share and help each other out. This is probably because it’s such a young company and none of us are stuck in old patterns.

If someone who was curious about working at SunPine asked you how things are here, what would you say?
SunPine is all about sustainability. We help make things a little better by producing renewable alternatives for fossil fuels. It is one of the reasons I wanted to work here. It’s great to feel that I’m doing something worthwhile. So if someone gets the opportunity to work at SunPine, I think that he or she should jump at the chance.
