SunPine receives Diversity Diploma
Piteå municipality awards SunPine its Diversity Diploma.
Ulrika Hagman, Project Manager, and Magnus Edin, CEO, proudly received the diploma.
“It feels great to have our work recognised,” says Ulrika Hagman.
Ata business breakfast on 15 March at the Acusticum in Piteå, SunPine was awarded a diploma by Piteå municipality for its diversity efforts.
The municipality feels that the company’s sustainability thinking extends far beyond the company’s products, which are made from residual products from the forestry industry. “They’ve clearly taken a stand to work proactively in support of diversity and human rights. In the broadest sense, sustainability is part of the company’s DNA,” states the award justification.
SunPine has long worked with sustainability in significantly more ways than just its production of environmentally friendly fuels and chemicals. Diversity is also an important perspective internally and when recruiting.
“It’s important to work with these issues. The diploma provides us with an opportunity to talk about what we do and how we work with our values,” says Magnus Edin, SunPine CEO.
“We also hope it will help us attract people who share our values now that we are recruiting new personnel prior to our expansion,” says Ulrika Hagman, Project Manager for the new plant.
The Diversity Diploma’s justification:
Sustainability is part of SunPine’s DNA in the fullest sense of the word.
Equal opportunities are a priority area, and SunPine makes a conscious effort to become an uncompromising equal opportunities workplace. What’s more, they add further perspectives such as the culture, ethnicity, background and language associated with an employee, which is perceived as manifesting diversity and a natural, inclusive approach.
SunPine’s sponsoring policy means it works unstintingly to provide women’s sports with better and more reasonable conditions. They are deliberately “unfair” by only sponsoring women’s sports such as Piteå IF, Luleå Hockey/Munksund SSK and Luleå Basket in order to counterbalance prevailing inequalities.
On Piteå Business Day 2018, the Sustainability Award instituted by SunPine was presented for the first time as an inspiring example.
